A day in First Protocol involved the team and I spending about 4 hours learning more about events management and how to be successful in planning an event. The day started of with a welcoming from Kar Fun Ho (Project Manager), Mark Gill (Senior Project Manager) and Amy White (Account Manager). They explained who they were , what they did and how to plan an event .
These few minutes where very important to me and one thing I remembered hearing was that 'There would be one or two things that might go wrong on the day of the event.' This made me make a list of things that could possibly go wrong and how to make sure it doesn't happen e.g the food having an unusual taste so I would have to taste it before hand.
Finally, it was time for the expert on 'being successful' to speak. Mark Riches (Managing Director) gave a speech which could be summarized into three main points :
- To be successful, you need to prepare for the unexpected.
- To be successful, you need to know your aim and how you are going to achieve it and finally
- The key to success is making mistakes and learning from it (experience).
